Queens—Long Island Renal Institute, NYC Queens-Long Island Renal Institute is a new dialysis unit within The Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation. As part of a collaborative effort, Tobin and Parnes created relaxing and soothing interiors inspired by nature for patients that often spend hours in the same location. The objective was to create a space that would be inviting and comforting from the time patients entered to the time they left. Natural materials including a fireplace, large scale nature graphics, wood plank flooring, skylight type ceiling elements and other environmental imagery help to provide a health-resort atmosphere in lieu of a medical institution.
