Carmine's Restaurant Expansion, NYC
This project was a renovation and expansion of an existing 6000 s.f. multi-floor restaurant in Times Square in New York City. Architecturally, Tobin + Parnes created a floor opening with new main stair to access the second floor restaurant expansion. The existing main kitchen was increased in size and a new baking kitchen was added to the second floor. Working with Peter Niemitz, restaurant designer, new finishes and millwork were designed to blend with the color, texture and feeling of the existing restaurant millwork. A new light toned terrazzo flooring and stair material was designed to emphasize the "Italian" family theme and highlight the rich textures on the walls. The overall effect was to create additional space that blended entirely with the original restaurant.
