TOBIN | PARNES POSITIONS ITSELF TO BECOME PREFERRED ARCHITECT/INTERIOR DESIGN TEAM FOR HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

New York, NY — Tobin | Parnes Design Enterprises has announced that it will position itself over the next several years to become one of the leading design firms servicing the hospitality industry.

Says Carol Tobin, a principal at Tobin | Parnes, “We are intrigued by the challenge of creating environments that must be unique to be successful, which of course is essential in the hospitality industry. We’ve had the opportunity to create designs for restaurants such as Munchelino’s, TV City, New Yankee Café and more. We have also created one-of-a-kind designs whereby we have integrated the design of a hotel lobby with the design of its restaurant, as was the case with the Shins Restaurant in the Parker-Meridien Hotel in New York. And we’ve worked on larger hotel projects, such as the Southampton Inn, where we added new spaces and transformed existing spaces – which had formerly operated as separate entities – into a unified, cohesive and exciting whole.”

The unique design of the Shins Restaurant in the Parker-Meridien Hotel allows the restaurant to operate as a enclosed space, or, when required, to be “brought out” into the lobby via custom millwork planters that slide away to transform the entire lobby into a café setting for special events. The Southampton Inn, a luxury property located on eastern Long Island, features a 3,000 square-foot octagonal two-story extension, which Tobin | Parnes added to the existing lobby. The new lobby design includes a magnificent fireplace flanked by bookcases and a wraparound deck from which visitors can view the beautiful gardens and pool. The previously under-used lower level of the building was transformed into a multi-use conference center and hotel service facility. Tobin | Parnes also created a pub lounge and entertainment/sports room on the lower level, from which conference attendees can enjoy breakfasts, buffet dining or a few rounds of chess. Through the use of color, texture and lighting, what might have been a confusing network of independent rooms now functions as a coherent sequence of spaces.

Says DeDe Gotthelf, owner of the Southampton Inn, “Tobin | Parnes was able to perfectly capture the ambiance of the Hamptons without compromising any of the requirements of the hospitality industry. The library/reception area they created is the most gracious, tranquil meeting spot anyone could imagine. Our 5,500 square-foot conference facility offers every state-of-the-art technology that our international corporate clientele could possibly need; yet it still feels like the Hamptons, with a relaxed atmosphere and the graciousness, charm, and lightness that one would expect here, whether visiting for business or pleasure.”
